The Centre for Knowledge Transfer and Industrial Networks was founded in order:
- To be the reference centre and coordinator for university-academia collaboration and community engagement in coastal communities
- To provide effective intellectual property management services to UMT staff
- To foster and leverage smart partnerships with industries and communities locally and globally
- To be a local community referral centre through innovative Research network in enhancing socio-economic and human capital development
